Is Thinking Obsolete?

Thinking seems to have gone out of style. We let advertising think for us; we let newscasters think for us; we let weather forecasters think for us; we let religious leaders think for us. Everyone is thinking for us but US!

What has happened to "thinking"?

I remember a scene from the movie "Schindler's List": a group of people are standing around a fire burning in a can, trying to get warm and talking together. One of the men says, "Today, today I actually found time to organize a thought..." He, of course, was in an extreme situation and we certainly are not anywhere near such conditions. His time was not his own, but he realized the importance of "thinking". The point for us is how far gone does our "thinking" have to go before we recognize that we are no longer thinking for ourselves? So many times it seems we have to lose something before we recognize its importance to us. Will that be true of our thinking? Is it already true?

We read a newspaper or watch the news and think we've caught up on the day. What we've "caught up" on is whatever someone else has decided to tell us. It may not be accurate. It may not even be true. But we come away telling ourselves we've been informed.

Are You Informed?

There is a great deal of information available to the public in this age. Not all of it, however, is accurate or truthful. Information for the sake of being informed does not mean that we are knowledgeable of truth. If we are constantly seeking information for the purpose of only acquiring information, we will be left a great distance from the truth.

Christians, like every other group of people, are bombarded with "views" of truth from every opinion, whether it is Scripturally sound or not. Someone says the Bible says thus and so and we accept it without so much as a prayer.

We are allowing ourselves to be flooded from all directions with "opinions"--not "truth"!

What Is Truth?

Truth is NOT someone's view of something or of someone. Thinking is a commodity we have come to take for granted. We have failed to realize that others are taking advantage of that fact. If "thinking" can be controlled by a minority of any kind, then it can be controlled by that same minority. Truth then becomes whatever we are told it is. If we don't think for ourselves, by default, we accept whatever we are told or whatever we are told to read or watch.

The old saying "seeing is believing" is not accurate. If you don't agree with that statement, go watch the filming of a movie, or sitcom or the daily news.

Just because you "see" something on the television or the movie screen does not mean it is actual. We only see what someone else wants us to see. Seeing a portion, (content controlled amount), of something that is going on, means that we are actually seeing very little of it.

"A picture is worth a thousand words" is another little saying which has no connection to accuracy and truth.

So, what is truth? There is only One from Whom we have been instructed to seek truth: the Holy Spirit. Jesus told us in John 16:13, "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come..."(NASB)

Does that mean the Holy Spirit will show us about the news, politics, etc.? I believe if we truly seek the Truth as God defines it, then, yes, He will be Faithful to reveal it to us.

Okay, but what is truth? Truth can be defined only within the context of a Holy God and His Holy Word. We cannot assume we are aware of truth just because we grab a glimpse of news, etc.

Example

Are you thinking, "That isn't happening to me. That could not happen to me."? (Don't make any bets on "that"!)

Several years ago we were led to a particular church. The pastors and lay leadership were masters at mind control and manipulating "truth' and controlling how others "think". The Spirit of God wanted to show us what was happening, how it was happening and why it was happening.

What was happening: People were being fed just enough truth to keep them from suspecting anything wrong. People were told and taught to look to the leadership to give them all their directions: from marriage to having children to naming their children, job changes... You name it, they were controlling it. The people were masterfully maneuvered away from pursuing and having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through His Holy Spirit.

How was it happening: people were slowly deceived through indoctrination. It was a masterful work by those who have mastered the craft (i.e. witchcraft).

Why was it happening: because people had (and still have) abdicated their responsibility to think. People sat in their seats for hours each week getting what we call a "spiritual fix", never realizing they were being led down the path of both spiritual and emotional destruction. Sadly, many of them still are.

What Do We Do?

We choose to THINK! Will it take time? You bet it will. 'that's one way we've lost our "thinking". We don't want to take the time to "think". We've abdicated the responsibility to "think" and carelessly place it in the hands of others who have no care at all whether or not we are receiving God's Truth.

TAKE BACK CONTROL OF YOUR MIND AND THINK!

From The Bridegroom

On March 2, 1985, the Lord gave us the following: "Call them (the body of Christ) forth in a unity of purpose and in My Name". The Holy Spirit has taught us over the years what the purpose is. It is found in John 17:1 1 "...that they may be one as We {are one)." * Jesus came to His earth to show us the Father. He came to die for all man's sin, defeat satan and his hold on mankind. He came to reconcile us back to His Father and give all mankind His victory over satan, so that we can become one with Jesus, our Father and Holy Spirit. That oneness is ours to apprehend through the Cross of Jesus Christ and the Blood He so willingly shed for His Father and for us. This unity through the Blood, Life, Death, Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus is a Gift that all of God's children need to rise up and seize.

Pray for all who have and will become children of God through the Victory of Jesus Christ. Call the Body forth and let us all join our spirits in the Reign of Jesus over all His children and His creation. Our oneness with Jesus, through our obedience to Him as our Lord and King, truly tells the world that we prize Him higher than ourselves.

Let the Light shine in your life for all the world to see --- HIM!

God's Chosen People

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: 'May they prosper who love you. May peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces'. For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, 'May peace be within you. ' For the sake of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good." (Psalm 122:6-9NASB)

Let us truly seek the good of our brothers. Brothers?, you say. Yes, our brothers and sisters in Yeshua (Jesus). We are greatly indebted to the Jewish people over the centuries. Don't you consider it in awe that these people were called the chosen of God? Look at the tremendous responsibility they were given by God in the scripting and safe-keeping of the Scriptures. Without their care of the Scriptures we who are not Jewish by birth would never know about our Lord. What a debt we owe them for their handling of God's Holy Word!

The Lord is returning for His bride. That's bride, singular, not brides! God never intended His people to be split into two brides. We are not Jewish blood born, but we are Jewish Blood bought. We are Gentiles (non-Jewish) by birth. We are Jewish by Death...His Death!

Look At Current Events

Knowing The Times

A most noteworthy recent event is the election of a new prime minister for the State Of Israel. The Likud Party's "hard line" approach may well help assure that the PLO will have to live up to some of their commitments for a change! Having a one-ended accountability is not the way of peace!

It is our prayer that the Likud Party and Prime Minister Netanyahu will achieve a shared commitment for peace in Israel, rather than the one-sided give-away that preceded the election.

Whether non-Jewish Christians are supportive of Israel's Labor Party or the Likud, we must remember that we have no idea what it is like to have been at war for over half a century. Actually, the Hebrew people have been at war with some participant of satan's evil ever since God brought them into being.

But, we hasten to add, there will be no real peace for Israel and the rest of the world until the Prince of Peace returns to claim His own.

Unaware to many Christians, we are currently living out prophecies which told of the events we are experiencing daily. If you want to know where the world is today, read the books of Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel. If you spend time in the Scriptures with the Holy Spirit, you will find the "church 'in the writings of the House of Israel as they turned away from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!

Christianity seems to enjoy pointing its finger at the Jews and judging them harshly for their rebellion against God. How pompous and arrogant we are in our "faith"! We seem to desire to hold our Jewish brothers and sisters to higher standards than we are willing to live by ourselves! May God forgive our actions, our words ... our hearts, that turn against His own!

Atlanta, GA.

Sanity and sanctity of life has been invaded by the terror of life without God. Whether through sophisticated or crude weapons, the result is the same: evil, terror and death.

What has been placed because of this, is that reality has struck and the nightmare has become fact. But it can only have any positive value if we acknowledge that it is real. Not just a "chance" happening!

Some horrible event happens and it touches us and pulls us out from our cocoon. But we only flow it for a brief time, because we don't like how it makes us feel when it touches us.

Apathy is our greatest enemy, because it causes us to do...nothing!

The following was written after, the Oklahoma City bombing. It seems appropriate to add at this time.

OKLAHOMA City

I am thoughtful over the events of the last 17 hours. The federal building in Oklahoma City was the target of a terrorist bombing at 9:00 am on Wed. the nineteenth. So many deaths, so many children. I pray that the people of America will be jolted out of their complacency. Since this has occurred, I pray God will take the evil of satan and turn it against him in such a way that it will cause people to stop for a reality check. Most of the people in this country think events of this kind only occur in countries of a "lesser" civilization. This is but a precursor to setting the stage for the rise of the anti-christ.

It is amazing how the great majority of citizens have no idea of what is going on upon this planet! How many remember that Earth is a planet? This is not meant in a tongue and cheek manner. I am truly serious! People in our country have forgotten how to THINK! At the end of the work day so many people say they don't "think", because they've just spent eight hours on the job thinking, and they want to relax! Well, if apathy were a companion, then we would find ourselves in an intercoursing relationship. Atrophy of the mind --- by choice ----- Now isn't that an interesting ingredient for the formula of self-destruction! Interesting, yes! Smart, no! Have we become so entangled in a web of our own weaving that we cannot separate fiction from fact, deception from truth? We have set our own trap. We find ourselves snaring the "catch" and we are elated with our victory. But there is a problem. Once we take the time to appraise our success and face this enemy, we find that we are the enemy! We have faced humanity with humanity and we have been found wonting. We have placed ourselves in the position of "hunter", then we become the one who is being "stalked". The instant the snare is activated, we find we have captured the enemy within ----- our "self'. We have decided that our knowledge of knowledge has not supported us as we have been told it would. We've spent years reading information on how to play the "game" of life. We've taken courses, been to classes, seen the correct televisual presentations only to find, to our complete dismay, that all the formulas have failed. It has been said, "we have seen the enemy and it is us".

We were set up for a great fall! Satan is the maker of fools and he has just put another notch on his gun! We have believed the lies and embraced the source of our destruction --- satan himself. We have become victims of our own making. It would appear we have forgotten that life is filled with ups and downs. I heard a saying once that "life is made up of mountain peaks and valleys and somebody greased the peaks". It is time for humanity to wake up and begin training our minds to think --- not to just go along for the ride.

As the many scenes are viewed, weeping ensues. Yes, for all the death, and injuries, and the lives that will never be the same again .... but most of all weeping for all those who have allowed themselves to be so brain-washed by society that we find we are in the midst of a war and we hadn't even noticed "war" had been declared! We prefer ignorance over truth because we choose to NOT be responsible. We are accountable for our actions, even if we choose not to choose --- it's still a "choice". It is time to wake up.

We are in a WAR. It is time we wake up to that fact and move out in the Spirit of God with His Armor and declare Truth to a hurting, hungry and gullible world.

As it turns out, most of the federal investigation is centering upon members of a militia group (or groups) within our own borders. This saddens us even more. Unfortunately, this is but the very beginning of sorrows for the United States of America. Only time will show how horrible it will become. History, if humanity doesn't destroy itself, will record that Americans were duped, tricked by the "unknown" enemy.... SELF! TRICKED because we chose not to THINK!

This word was given after the Oklahoma City bombing " ...Is destruction the only wake-up call people can or will understand?"

Bottom Line

What is our bottom line?

It is our responsibility to THINK!!! Don't continue to allow anyone else to think for you. Get out the Word of God and study it yourself. Find out what it says for yourself. Place yourself at His Feet and pray the Holy Spirit to guide you ... He will! If you will take the time to spend with Him, you will find He's been there waiting all the time ... for you to seek HIM.

Choice

The choice before each of us is to accept God's Gift of Life through His Son's Sacrifice, or to deny Him and walk away into everlasting death. To choose to accept His Gift is to choose Life--both now and forever. To deny Him is to spend eternity cut off from our Creator.

Jesus, God's Son, was sacrificed in order that we would not have to spend our lives here and our eternal end cut off from our Creator--our Father. God, through His Son's sacrifice, has provided the way to the life and love that He offers each one of us.

Give Him the chance to show you His Love in a very REAL Way.

Acknowledge His Presence, declaring that His Son, Jesus Christ, was God come to Earth as a man. He Who created you came to call you home to Himself. Acknowledge that you are a sinner in need of the Savior. Accept the FACT that:

Jesus died --- for YOUR sins.

Jesus rose --- for YOU.

He ascended to His Father--for YOU.

Ask Him to forgive you for your sins. Ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit. Reach out to Him--accept Him-love Him and allow Him to love you with His Unequaled, Unconditional, Sacrificial LOVE.

JESUS LOVES YOU!
