BENEATH THE CROSS October 1998

​What Do I Find?

I suppose the first thing I find beneath the cross is dirt: dirt from which Adam was created. But this Adam--the second Adam--hanging above was different. He was the embodiment of God come to earth.

There were probably some sprigs of grass---I suppose somehow signifying life...creation.

But as I kneel at the cross of Jesus, what else is there?

I feel something dripping on my bowed head, on my shoulders. After a few minutes it is running down my neck, my arms, my back...all over me. Maybe it is raining. I look....it is not rain. It is the pure, sinless, atoning blood of my Jesus....nailed above.

As I continue kneeling there with the precious Blood of my Lord covering my body, I hear the Spirit of the Lord speak to my heart: "If you're not completely covered in the Blood of My Son---you're not covered at all!"

And so I remain beneath the Cross of Jesus. Now I am covered in His Blood.....for all of life's blood has drained from His Body.

But I begin to ponder...what does it mean---that I am covered in His Blood?

He was the Lamb. He was the Sacrifice. His Blood covers my sin. God sees His Son's Blood and, therefore, does not see my sin. Jesus' Blood covers my sin as though it were a blanket sheltering me from the elements.

But Is There More?

I somehow think that there must be more.

I remember Leviticus 17:11: "For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar: it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life." ...

Could it be: "For the life of Jesus is in His Blood, and You, Oh God, have given it to me to make atonement for me on the altar; it is Jesus' Blood that makes atonement for my life."?

If I am covered in the blood of Jesus and if the life is in the blood, then I must be covered in the Life of Jesus!

Covered!

I am covered in the Righteousness of God, my Savior. I am covered in the Holiness of a Holy God. I am no longer separated from God. The bridge of Grace has given me entrance into His Holy Presence, into His Heart.

All right, I see that I am covered. But what?...What more? I am still not comprehending the fullness of what is happening. What am I missing?

I Have A Choice

The Life of Jesus covers me: but I have a choice....a daily, moment by moment choice. I can choose to remain under the Protective, Sustaining, Guiding Life of Jesus or I can leave His Life Covering behind.

But the Spirit of the Lord said to me: "If you're not completely covered in the Blood of My Son, you're not covered at all."

Forbid it Lord!...that I should have anything covering my life but the Life of Your Son, my Lord!

Jesus, help me to walk in Your life today and always.

I must decrease that You may increase. Father, please make it so.

God’s Chosen People

Do you know the Bible is very clear about the destiny of the Jewish people? The Scriptures say that, after the destruction of Jerusalem and worldwide scattering of the Jewish people, God would first bring them back to the Land of Israel from the four corners of the earth, after which He will spiritually restore them to Himself. It is in their land that they will receive a new heart and a new spirit (Ezekiel 36:26-27), and it is in their land that they will confess, as a nation, that the Lord will be their God, and they will be His people (Jeremiah 31:33).

God has had His own plan and purpose for the land and people of Israel from the very beginning. He offers Christians, as children of Abraham by faith, the chance to take an integral part in the outworking of His design.

It is a plan so great in significance that it encompasses the future of the whole earth. As Paul states: "If their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their fullness bring? For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?" (Romans 11:12, 15).

Look At Current Events

Can mankind look at the events of today and not realize that God is indeed trying to get man’s attention? The answer is obviously "Yes". Our actions (or lack of actions) expose the true feelings of mankind. Mankind does not revere God in any way. Man "jokes" about God as if He were some simpleton to be ridiculed! How can we possibly stand before a Holy God Whom we consider worthy of our disrespect? Can we possibly stand before a Holy God when we continue to make excuses for our sin rather than prostrating ourselves before Him in humble and reverent repentance? One thing is very clear...we cannot stand before Holy God "...For it is written, 'AS I LIVE, SAYS THE LORD, EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW TO ME, AND EVERY TONGUE SHALL GIVE PRAISE TO GOD.' So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God." Romans 14:11-12

We WILL BOW before God. Let us come to a despair of heart that admits our sins and cries out to God, as did King David when confronted with his sin against God, "Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge."* Psalms 51: 1-3 NASB

From The Bridegroom

"Stand in search of your souls. What do you find there? You find grief and loneliness, heartache and loss. Cling to Me to find your hope. Hope is found no where else but in Me. Examine yourselves to see where you are found wanting. You are found wanting in your lack of Me. This is of your doing, not Mine. Seek Me while I may be found! Seek Me...and know Truth." September 27, 1998

Bottom Line

We stand beneath the blood of our Saviour, saved by His Grace...or we stand out from under that Grace, sentencing ourselves to an eternity in hell! The choice is ours!

Choice

Yes, the choice is ours! When we are given a choice, it means we have the power and responsibility to determine our own future. God has already made adequate provision for our response to His Great Love: eternity with Him! We can look at the cross and defiantly say "NO!". The God given provision for that response is eternity in hell!

Give God the chance to show you that He is the One Who Loves you most and Loves you best! He longs to hold you in His Hands of Love, Forgiveness, Compassion, Grace and Mercy.

Sometimes we find it hard to respond positively to God’s gifts because we tend to judge all gifts from the point of view of mankind...filled with lust, selfishness, greed and ultimate death. The only way to break that flaw in our judging process is to give God a chance! What have you got to lose? ‘Just your despair, misery, grief, loneliness, bitterness and inner pain! Give Him a try...you’ll be surprised...

Come before His Presence and tell Him that you are a sinner in need of His Love and Grace. Lift up your life to Him and ask Him to fill you with His Most Holy Spirit and to train you in all Truth!

 

GOD WILL NOT FAIL!
